volcanic wines

I was thrilled when Glug, a UK wine magazine, invited me to illustrate the cover of their October issue.

Their focus was on wines from Italy’s volcanic regions, and their brief was clear yet left room for creativity: to visualise ‘falling in love with the region and its wine‘.

Rather than depicting a specific vineyard, I aimed to capture the experience of drinking these wines.
I wanted to show how flavours and scents can evoke sensations and distant memories, creating an atmospheric journey.

My goal was to capture the ancient power of the volcano, as well as the hard work and culture involved in cultivating that rugged terrain, all set against the backdrop of a harmonious sunset sky.
A couple hikes in this landscape;  a journey into a world of flavour and sensation, like a glass of great wine.
